Fitness Suite - Power Plate
High-profile celebrities Madonna and P-Diddy, Germany's World Cup footballers and leading golfers Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke are just some of the big names from the entertainment and sports worlds who have gained significant benefits from using the revolutionary new Power Plate to achieve higher levels of fitness for the demands of their particular lifestyles.
The Power Plate is now being used by Leicestershire's cricketers to fine tune their condition for the rigours of a long season ahead, and it is also set to become a popular feature of specialist one-to-one training available to the general public in the new Grace Road Fitness Suite.
The Advanced Vibration Technology of this machine has created a new form of training known as Acceleration Training, making it a prominent part of the private and exclusive facility which Leicestershire are looking to establish following the transformation of the Championship Lounge.
In seeking to develop a wider range of facilities at Grace Road that will generate additional sources of income, the Club has identified a niche in the fitness and training marketplace and believes that the investment in the Power Plate will help them to achieve that objective.
"While there are many Premiership football clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United who have a Power Plate, we are the first county in English cricket to acquire this revolutionary piece of machinery and we are confident that it will enable us to establish a facility that will be of enormous value to people who want to make a lifestyle change," said Leicestershire's Chief Executive Paul Maylard-Mason.
The Power Plate Pro5 which Leicestershire have acquired works by transferring vibrations to muscles, enabling them to contract and relax up to 50 times a second in a reflex action. A static or dynamic pose, held for up to 60 seconds at a time, activates multiple muscle groups simultaneously to improve muscle tone, power, performance, flexibility and the range of motion within a short space of time.
In addition to increasing strength and agility, Acceleration Training on the Power Plate encourages hormone release for promoting recovery and regeneration of damaged tissue, so reducing sports injuries, speeding up rehabilitation and shortening the healing time.
